About Victoria University (VU)

Victoria University achieved university status in 1991, but our preceding institutions date back to 1916. It is one of Australia’s few dual-sector universities.

As one of 39 public universities in Australia, graduates can be assured their qualification from VU is being awarded from a university operating in a world-class education system.

As well as about 5000 international students studying our courses in Australia, we have more than 9400 international students studying VU courses at overseas partner institutions, mainly in Asia.

Being a dual-sector university means that their students can easily pathway from vocational education to higher education - such as from a certificate or diploma course through to an undergraduate degree or even a postgraduate qualification by coursework or research.

Applying for postgraduate study

An application for a research degree that is not dependent upon a scholarship can be made at any time throughout the year.

Applicants for a research degree who would also like to apply for a main round graduate research scholarship are required to apply for a scholarship first.  These are available for application each year in August to September for International students and September to October for Domestic Students and include government schemes APA and IPRS.

In addition to these scholarships there are a range of other options for funding your research degree available throughout the year.

Why I love business at VU

Find out about our diverse business study areas from accounting student, Sheldon. " I love that VU really wants to give everyone an opportunity to be the best they can, when I started, I was pretty mediocre student and I hadn't grown as a person. But from my second year onwards, and volunteering at the university, there have been great opportunities to grow and be a better person that I thought I could be"
